A Dog's Skin

Page [ 1 | 2 ]

The skin forms the primary barrier protecting a dog’s body. It keeps water out and moisture in as well as preventing micro-organisms gaining access. The skin also has the follicles for growing all 3 types of essential hair that a dog needs. First there are the outer “guard hairs” that form a dogs outer visible coat, then below these are their “wool hairs” that forms their insulating layer. Thirdly there are the hairs we call “whiskers” which provide very sensitive tactile detectors.

VETS TIPS

Always use warm water to bathe a pet

Groom coat whilst still damp
